Texas Homeowners Selling For Top Dollar

Texas home prices are up about 10 percent from a year ago.

Texas real estate agents are reporting that statewide housing prices “are now the highest median and average home price figures ever seen in Texas real estate.”

During the second quarter, statewide median prices were up almost 10 percent to $177,300.

“The first half of the summer selling season has been very busy for Texas real estate,” Shad Bogany, chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors, said Thursday in a statement. “Demand for homes steadily increased throughout the state, which has prompted competition for properties and is boosting prices.”

FHA Says Flip Away Within Limits

Good news for single-family home investors, rehabbers and buyers seeking to use low down payment FHA financing: The temporary waiver of FHA's 90-day "anti-flipping" rule was extended last week through 2014.
The waiver, which facilitates purchases of homes from sellers who have held title to their properties for less than 90 days, continues a policy first adopted by the Obama administration in 2010.
